Dell PowerEdge Processor and Memory selector tool

Just found this, helps to ensure that your RAM doesn’t end up running slower than you expected: Dell PowerEdge Processor and Memory selector. Best of all it does include the latest Intel E5-2600v2 series CPUs, though it’s not using the 32GB LRDIMMs in its recommendations.

Whilst we’re at it, HP have a similar utility for their ProLiant servers: DDR3 Memory Configuration Tool

Finally, Intel also have one (though surprisingly it doesn’t include the EE5-2600v2 series CPUs): Memory Configuration Tool

As the memory controller is within the CPU now, in theory these should all give the same results for a given CPU model…
